Heather is a registered social worker and psychotherapist with a specialized focus on providing trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatments to public safety personnel (PSP). She initially honed her experience at a private treatment facility with dedicated trauma programming for PSP. This experience, combined with ongoing work with PSPs in at THP and in private practice, has equipped her with a comprehensive approach to therapy and a deep understanding for the uniquely complex expectations and experiences of PSPs. Heather has also gained invaluable experience volunteering in a correctional institution and working as a crisis worker in an emergency department.
Heather loves to continually challenge herself to learn new information, experiment with different treatment approaches, and stay up to date on best practices for PSP through workshops, trainings and reading. Outside of work, she loves to exercise, be a foster mom with an animal rescue organization and spend time in nature.
Overall, Heather finds it incredibly important (and incredibly enjoyable) to provide meaningful supports to those who dedicate their lives to helping others.
