Lauren (Huiping) Hu is a Registered Acupuncturist in British Columbia with over 10 years of combined clinical experience in musculoskeletal care, pain management, and functional rehabilitation. She integrates modern anatomical knowledge with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to provide evidence-informed, structured, and individualized treatment plans.
Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, Lauren practiced as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in Alberta, where she developed a strong foundation in soft tissue assessment and hands-on therapy. This background allows her to approach acupuncture with a deeper understanding of muscles, fascia, and joint mechanics—particularly in the treatment of sports injuries and functional movement dysfunction.
Her clinical focus includes neck and back pain, shoulder dysfunction, hip and knee conditions, headaches, sciatica, and recovery from motor vehicle accident (ICBC) injuries. She also has experience supporting patients with stress-related conditions, including anxiety, insomnia, and nervous system dysregulation.
Lauren has a particular interest in sports medicine and functional rehabilitation. She combines anatomical and orthopedic acupuncture approaches with traditional TCM pattern differentiation to effectively manage both acute and chronic conditions.
Lauren integrates traditional acupuncture with modern clinical approaches, including:
Meridian acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, and acupressure
Anatomically-based acupuncture focusing on muscles and fascial structures
Electro-acupuncture for pain relief and neuromuscular regulation
Fascial integration and functional needling techniques
Cupping therapy, dynamic cupping, and Gua Sha to support circulation and tissue recovery
Lauren also has experience and a special interest in women’s health and post-surgical recovery, including:
Scar rehabilitation (e.g., Cesarean section scars)
Hormonal balance and constitutional regulation
Stress management, sleep support, and digestive health
Lauren is known for her thorough assessment and targeted treatment approach. She is committed to helping patients not only relieve symptoms, but also restore function and achieve long-term health and well-being.
