IAN MACKINTOSH, Registered Clinical Counsellor
Bringing a broad spectrum of life and professional experience to his role as a
Clinical Counsellor, Ian Mackintosh works with a wide range of age groups with a
focus on children, youth and families.
Ian operates from a strength-based, trauma-informed, dynamic systems
approach, using a variety of arts-based and somatic experiential tools/techniques
to help clients explore creative solutions and new perspectives.

• Life transitions/managing change
Ian addresses and integrates client experience using a variety of non-judgmental
evidence-based therapies, incorporating aspects of creative and expressive
techniques in part influenced by his background in massage therapy and
professional theatre.
In addition to child, youth and family counselling, Ian has been working with
individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction in the supported housing
and crisis-housing sector in both Vancouver and Victoria for more than a decade.
This has given him a pragmatic optimism to provide quality, practical service for
all clients to dream a better existence for themselves.
Ian holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of
Victoria, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from UVic, and Massage
Therapy certification from Mount Royal College in Calgary.
Ian is married with two children (and three cats) and lives on the West Shore.
