Jamison Sampson BScHK, MScPT
Jamison developed an interest in physiotherapy as a high school athlete dealing with hockey and weightlifting injuries. While completing a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics at StFX University, Jamison acted as captain of the StFX Baseball Team for three seasons. He then moved to Scotland to complete a Master of Science in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University, where he also developed a passion for golf.
After completing his education, he initiated his career as a physiotherapist within the UK’s National Health Service, where he focused on medical rehabilitation in a COVID-19 ward and later transitioned to the geriatric frailty service. In 2023, he returned to Cape Breton to further his career at a general private practice clinic. Jamison began his newest chapter at Coastal Sports & Wellness in January 2024. His enthusiasm lies in working with new clients and aiding athletes in reaching peak condition. He particularly enjoys the challenge of helping golfers regain mobility and thrive. When Jamison isn't at work, you can find him at the golf course, the gym, or walking his dog Fergus.
Jamison enjoys working with all patients, regardless of their condition. He has experience with musculoskeletal injuries, pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, respiratory medicine, and learning disabilities, among others. He has a keen interest for working with athletes of all levels, particularly golfers, hockey & baseball players.
Jamison uses a blend of hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, shockwave therapy and functional rehabilitation to help his clients move better, feel better, and perform better. He utilizes a person-centred approach to offer evidence-based care and help people achieve their goals. Jamison loves his job, and it is evident with every treatment. The premium quality of therapy Jamison provides quickly created a high demand for his services, and we would love for you to see why firsthand.

80-90% effective at treating soft tissue, tendon, heel and joint pain in 3-6 treatments! Shockwave therapy utilizes high pressure waves of compressed air to mechanically break up calcification and scar tissue caused by repetitive stress. Physiological effects of the shockwave include: - Increased cell permeability and metabolism, as shockwaves influence the tissues on a cellular level. - Revascularization effect, where the renewed blood flow promotes tissue healing and regeneration. - Pain control and reduction (Gate Control theory) - Reduction of adhesions and fibrotic tissue prohibitive of healing. - Muscle tone recovery. Proven results for chronic, traditionally difficult-to-treat disorders such as: - Plantar Fasciitis - Achilles Tendinopathy - Trigger Point Therapy - Jumper’s Knee - Stress Fractures - Bursitis - Hallux Rigidus - Shin Splints - Tennis Elbow - Non-Healing Ulcers - Calcific Rotator Cuff Tendonitis - Scar Tissue Treatment - Hamstring Tendinopathy

A running assessment typically takes about an hour. You should arrive with your running shoes, (multiple pairs if you use them) and be prepared to run on a treadmill for about five minutes. The Physiotherapist will first ask about your running history, your goals, and current or past injuries. They will then perform an assessment of strength and range of motion, as well as some specific tests based on your history of injury. Afterwards, your running will be examined in slow motion to determine how your form may be positively or negatively affecting your running. You will review this information with the physiotherapist and they will provide recommendations for improving your running form. This will often include advice on training, strengthening, cadence, and footwear.

To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. A proper screen involves an assessment of swing mechanics, biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health, and injury history. The TPI movement screen is a simple test to quickly evaluate a player’s physical capabilities. The results of that assessment are used to determine how technical elements of the player’s swing could be related to what their body can or cannot do. Once this screen is finished, the results are used to create a plan unique for that golfer. The plan may include fitness training, physical therapy treatment, coaching of swing mechanics and biomechanics.
