Robert Jason (RJ) Verbruggen decided to become an RMT after a stint in the military. It was this path that led him to wanting to continue to help people in the civilian world. He graduated in 2017 from Oxford College in Burlington and was the first in his class to become a registered massage therapist. His passion for helping patients when they are in pain, and to help give them relief is one of the the most satisfying things in his career. His style is a mix of deep tissue massage/sports therapy mixed with Thai massage. When he isn’t working, you will find RJ at the bowling alley, rock climbing gym, riding his motorcycle or out in Lake Ontario in a boat or on a seadoo.

Massage including Athletic Taping. Taping helps to support the ligaments and capsules of unstable joints by limiting excessive or abnormal movements. Taping enhances proprioceptive feedback from the limb or joint, to avoid further injury to the joint. Taping also supports injuries at the musculotendinous junctions by limiting movement. Athletic taping is used for injury prevention, pain management during sporting events, supporting dislocated joints, and provides the ability for the athlete to remain in the practice or event.

A Relaxation Massage performed by an esthetician/beautician typically emphasizes soothing techniques to relieve stress and promote overall well-being. The session begins with a consultation to understand the client's needs and preferences. This massage is not covered by extended health benefits. A Relaxation Massage uses gentle, flowing strokes, such as long, gliding movements like effleurage, and kneading motions to relax the muscles and improve circulation. "Unlike therapeutic massages performed by Registered Massage Therapists, relaxation massages by estheticians focus primarily on surface relaxation and stress relief rather than addressing deep tissue concerns." Essential oils or lotions may be used to enhance the experience, providing aromatherapy benefits as well. The esthetician focuses on areas of tension, ensuring pressure is tailored to the client's comfort level. Throughout the massage, clients are encouraged to breathe deeply and let go of any stress, creating a holistic experience designed to rejuvenate both body and mind. Overall, the goal of a relaxation massage is to provide a serene escape, facilitating both physical relaxation and mental tranquility.

Athletic/Sports Massage Treatment is specifically designed to support individuals in their physical activities, whether they're recovering from an injury, preparing for a performance, or aiming to improve flexibility and reduce injury risks. The treatment combines a variety of techniques to address the needs of the body before, during, or after physical activity. Here's an overview of the key components of this type of massage: Cupping: This therapy involves placing specialized cups on the skin to create suction. The suction helps to increase blood flow to specific areas, reduce muscle tension, and promote healing by enhancing circulation and reducing inflammation. Light Scraping Tools: Often used for soft tissue manipulation, tools like Gua Sha stones or Graston tools are gently scraped along the skin to help release muscle tightness, break down scar tissue, and increase range of motion. Percussion Massage Gun: A deep tissue technique that uses rapid, short pulses to penetrate deep into muscles. This helps reduce muscle soreness, relieve tension, and stimulate blood circulation for quicker recovery. Trigger Point Tool: A targeted approach to release knots and tight spots in the muscle, known as trigger points. Using specific pressure on these areas can relieve pain and promote better muscle function. Stretching: Dynamic or passive stretching techniques help improve flexibility, enhance muscle length, and support overall mobility. This can also help prevent injuries by preparing the muscles for activity. Overall, Athletic/Sports Massage Treatment can benefit athletes and active individuals by reducing muscle soreness, improving mobility, preventing injuries, and accelerating recovery, all through a combination of therapeutic techniques tailored to the individuals needs.
