Jenessa is an IAOM board Certified Orofacial Myologist TM and a registered dental hygienist, working in the dental field for over ten years. She graduated from the dental hygiene program at Cambrian College in 2011 and currently works part-time at a dental office in Guelph. After having her first child, she discovered the effect of tethered oral tissues (tongue and other ties) on the breastfeeding relationship and early life and the multitude of symptoms that affect adult life. In her dental hygiene practice, she frequently sees clients with teeth clenching/grinding, jaw pain, headaches, orthodontic relapse, and sleep issues. After discovering Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, she became passionate about treating the root cause of these issues instead of just treating the symptoms. Jenessa enjoys working with all ages to improve oral function related to breathing, chewing, swallowing, speaking, and facial growth and development. Jenessa believes that myofunctional therapy promotes overall health and well-being and can significantly influence people’s lives. Jenessa would call herself a lifelong learner and is always looking to expand her knowledge and skills by taking courses, reading, and keeping up to date on new research. She works collaboratively with other like-minded, well-respected healthcare professionals equally interested in improving overall health. Outside of work, Jenessa is a mom to three young children and enjoys a variety of hobbies, including volleyball, music, and spending time with her family.
