Jessica Bevan is a fascial focused Registered Massage Therapist who has been practicing since March 2007. She graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2006 and has continued her education in Biodynamic Fascial Integration inclusive of **visceral manipulation**, **fascial release techniques**, and **craniosacral therapy**, as well as, sport rehabilitation therapy and in depth anatomy labs. Her passion and extensive knowledge of anatomy has allowed Jessica to view the body through multiple lenses, combining her passion for yoga, pilates and manual release work. Jessica completed her 240 hour yoga teacher training and restorative yoga training in 2017 after-which she completed her Mat Pilates instructor training in 2021. Jessica’s love for learning and teaching has spanned the years of her working as a RMT. Jessica previously held a role as supervisor instructor at the WCCMT massage therapy school, helping students get acquainted with working with varsity athletes for two years at UBC. She has also worked with a number of professional teams, olympic athletes, high level performers including the BC Lions, the Vancouver WhiteCaps, and the International Triathlon Union. Jessica is in the midst of completing her Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training and is planning to do further equipment training as a Pilates Instructor. She hopes to share her passion for teaching with other colleagues or students of massage therapy again one day and intends on completing schooling as a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner in the future.
Jessica uses an integrated working model of the body taking into consideration how all the structures of the body can effect each other, including the organs and the structures in the skull and down the length of the spinal column. Working in this way helps to regulate the nervous system but also treats areas of the body often overlooked in the treatment of chronic pain and tension, such as ligaments and bones. What is also often overlooked is how our soft tissue can hold emotional trauma and in working with organs and the nervous system, in cohesion, can help to release somatic related tension and pain thought to be soft tissue related.
Jessica loves to take her dog for a walk, practice yoga as well as pilates and surf. When she’s not working you can often find her out for a coffee in Fort Langley, on a road trip with her family or travelling the world with her husband.
Interests and Research:
**Visceral manipulation:** working with the organs of the body
**Fascial release techniques:** working with the connective tissue that connects all parts of the body
**Craniosacral therapy:** working with the fascial structures of the skull and down the length of the spinal cord into the sacrum Note: all the above techniques are used in tandem to help the nervous system of the body move from a state where it can get stuck in fight or flight and allow it to ease into rest and digest in order to heal
