I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. My registration includes two specialities, clinical and authorized to perform restricted psychosocial interventions. I obtained a Bachelor of Social Work in 2014 and a Master’s of Social Work (Clinical Specialization) in 2017. In addition to counselling, I am also a sessional instructor with the University of Calgary Faculty of Social Work. I have been in the field for 12 years, with experience across diverse settings including Alberta Health Services, Children’s Services (front line and supervisory positions), Employee and Family Assistance Programs, Youth Group Care, Respite Care, and School Settings.
My areas of practice include: mental health challenges (anxiety, depression, adhd, personality disorders, ocd, perinatal mood disorders, etc.), attachment, relationship struggles (couples, friendships, and families), pregnancy/postpartum, parenting, child behavior support, and trauma.
I have specialized training in prenatal/postpartum mental health, attachment-focused parenting, and trauma. Having two young children of my own, I understand the challenges that arise during the perinatal period and early childhood years.
I draw from many different models of therapy, including: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy, Attachment-focused therapies, IFS, and Mindfulness practice. I am also a trained EMDR therapist.

Families will learn relationship skills with the ever changing dynamics that is found within families. Families can utilize this service to also be apart of a family members therapy to better learn how they can help each other.

Letter writing for doctors and other health professionals; report writing; treatment summaries; other document preparation. Fees are pro-rated based on hourly rate.
The initial step for parents to obtain counselling for their child. In this session we will discuss consent, presenting concerns, treatment options, and the counselling process. *You may also book an initial phone consult
Please choose this option for counselling sessions as a minor. Counselling sessions with Amber for minors are available for those aged 16 or 17 years.
