A born movement enthusiast, Julia is ecstatic to guide people on the journey of re-establishing their connections to their bodies. A trained dancer, she moved to Vancouver from Calgary a decade ago to complete her Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia in Computational Intelligence and Design, and ended up falling in love with Vancouver's rich underground dance, music, and art scene. A few years later, as a result of deep soul-searching and reflection after graduation, she has decided to pursue work that will be more enriching to her community and herself.
She is a recent graduate of the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy, where she graduated with honours. Combining her passion for health and wellness, her training in dance and theatre, and her research-based, analytical mind, Julia blends more mechanical, orthopaedic techniques with holistic, relaxing Swedish massage, as needed for each person's unique body.
When off-duty, Julia can be found immersing herself in the arts, most likely in a dance studio, be it teaching, training, or playing. She also loves catching up with her friends, family, and pets, and staying active in the gym or nature.

Hot stone massage therapy has been used throughout history all across the world. Using basalt stones, heat is transferred from the rock to the body through rhythmic movements. Hot stone therapy can be used on its own, for deep relaxation and increase in circulation, or in combination with manual therapy to release muscle tension before working deep into the tissues with the hands. Whether you're looking for overall relief, or targeted work to an injury or problem area, hot stone massage may benefit you. Additionally, cold stones can also be incorporated into treatment. While used sparingly and in combination with the hot stones on the skin, cold stones can be used to target areas of restriction. Hot stones and cold stones will be used at the exact same time, reducing the detectability of the cold sensation. Cold stones may also be used at the end of any treatment to reduce any suspected inflammation. Benefits of Hot Stone Massage: - Increase circulation for blood and lymph - decreased blood pressure - increase in oxygen and nutrients to tissues - increased moisture in skin - Increase relaxation and decrease tension, stress and fatigue - reduce congestion in sinuses Benefits of Cold Stone Massage: - decrease swelling and edema caused by injury - reduced muscle spasm - reduce acute inflammation - pain reduction Please review the following before booking a hot stone treatment: Hot stone massage cannot be performed on patients/in areas with the following: - Surgery sites where nerve damage may have occurred/sensation altered - Any altered sensation resulting from neuropathy, diabetes, or any other disease - Autoimmune or inflammatory diseases - Open wounds from a skin condition, lesion, or inflamed skin - Prescription medicine that may have side effects to heat or changes in temperature - Pregnancy - reduced temperature may be an option* - Heart disease where temperature changes challenge circulatory system - Varicose veins - Thin skin of elderly and infants - lighter pressure and lower lower temperature may be an option* - Internal hardware - pins, plates, screws, rods - Acute injuries Cold stone massage cannot be performed on patients/in areas with the following: - Decreased sensation - Hypertension - Raynaud's disease - Rheumatoid arthritis - Local limb ischemia - History of vascular compromise - frostbite, arteriosclerosis etc. - Cold allergy

While the paraffin does its work, the corresponding limbs will be treated to enhance therapeutic benefits. After 15 minutes, the wax will be carefully removed and the area will receive further targeted treatment. A paraffin treatment can be applied to areas other than the hands and feet if the therapist believes it would be beneficial. If this option is recommended, it will be mentioned at the beginning of your treatment, and you can discuss adding it as a $10 add-on. If you choose to add the paraffin treatment, the process will be similar to a standard treatment. The specified area will be coated with paraffin and covered with a blanket to retain heat for approximately 15 minutes, while the surrounding areas are treated. Afterward, the paraffin will be removed, and the targeted area will be further treated. If you have a specific area you'd like to address with paraffin, please inform your therapist. They will assess whether this option aligns with your treatment goals. **Paraffin Add On will be incorporated into the length of treatment originally booked.**
