Karissa graduated in 2015 from the Registered Massage Therapy Program at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy (OVCMT) in Vernon, BC. She was drawn to massage therapy as a way to help people dealing with chronic pain and improve their overall health. She utilizes her knowledge of assessment, therapeutic massage and manual therapy and rehabilitative exercise to help restore ideal function and biomechanics to the body.
In her years practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist Karissa has had success in assisting patients with a large variety of conditions. She uses a multitude of treatment techniques to achieve the best outcome for each patient based on their needs and preferences. Her skills include but are not limited to, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, muscle energy techniques (MET), neuromuscular techniques, and joint mobilizations. She has also taken additional courses to gain certifications in Post Mastectomy Massage Therapy, Level 1 NeuroKinetic Therapy and Exercise Rehabilitation.
Karissa strongly believes in working together with her patients to improve the quality of their lives by listening to their needs and offering individually tailored treatments and home-care.
