From relaxation, to improving posture, to sports massage, there are many reasons a child may need a massage. Parents are welcome to sit in the treatment room during the treatment.
Cupping involves suctioning the skin using silicone cups. The cups are used in conjunction with knowledge of movement patterns to improve function and movement with reduced pain. Cupping can often relax soft tissue more efficiently than just using hands alone. The goal is improving movement and reducing tone in limited movement patterns around the different areas of the body.
Sking Scraping (or Gua Sha) is part of traditional healing in China and South East Asia. It is often used to treat chronic pain, decrease muscle tone, and improve movement. Tools are used in conjunction with knowledge of movement patterns to improve function and movement with reduced pain and can often relax soft tissue more efficiently than just using hands alone. The goal is improving movement and reducing tone in limited movement patterns around the different areas of the body.
Massage therapy treatments can help women through the aches and pains that may come with pregnancy.
Rehab, injury prevention, training, and increasing range of motion are just a few reasons to come in for a sports massage. Pre and post sporting event massages are very beneficial to perform at peak physical state. A mixture of techniques are used to tailor the treatment to your needs and goals.
Swedish massage is what is taught to all RMTs in Ontario. It can be tailored to each individuals needs as it is beneficial in many different ways. For example swedish massage is great for relaxation, decreasing muscle stiffness, increasing range of motion, and improving circulation (and many more).
In this treatment we focus on the temporomandibular joint (the jaw) and the compensatory areas. Massage around the jaw, face, neck, scalp, and upper back can be done, as well as intra-oral work on the pterygoid muscles in the mouth.
Therapeutic massage uses swedish techniques but is a more tailored approach to meet each clients specific needs. Along with swedish techniques, there may be a wider variety of techniques used during treatment (think stretches or deep tissue). Therapeutic massage is great for an ongoing treatment plan, or maintenance work.
