My name is Kathy Eggenberger and I have had the good fortune of practicing physiotherapy since graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1999. I began my career working at several sports medicine clinics in Vancouver, Victoria and London. I have been practicing in Peterborough since 2003. I opened Optimal Health Physiotherapy in 2015.
My current treatment approach is comprehensive and involves a thorough assessment, goal setting, 'hands on’ treatment and a targeted exercise program. In addition to traditional physiotherapy modalities, I use manual therapy to restore normal joint mobility; acupuncture to control pain; dry needling to decrease muscle tension and shockwave to stimulate healing in chronic soft tissue injuries. I strongly believe in educating my clients about their conditions and providing them with the tools to manage the condition independently.
I am a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists, have my BoneFit training from Osteoporosis Canada and have a certification in Acupuncture and Dry Needling from APTEI.
When I am not working as a physiotherapist, I spend time coaching the local youth triathlon team, the Peterborough Pirates, and organizing our local cycling club's Cyclocross Series.
I have competed with the Canadian National Rowing Team, at the Canadian National Cyclocross Championships and at several Age Group World Triathlon Championships.
In my spare time I can be found playing outside with my husband and two children: skiing, cycling, wake surfing, dirt biking and running.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your journey to optimal health!
