Katie Marks has returned from maternity leave, yahoo!
She thoroughly enjoys hiking, yoga, kayaking and trail running. Working with her community is something Katie has always been passionate about and she believes in giving back. Katie has spent 5 years working with a local social enterprise empowering adults with developmental disabilities through meaningful workplace duties. This is where her love for health and well-being began.
During her time at West Coast College, she learned anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, general orthopaedic testing and mastery level massage training. Katie worked in palliative care facilities as well as the in-reach clinic completing 550 hours of massage training. She treated patients living with Parkinson’s, MS, Cerebral Palsy, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic pain syndromes. Many of her patients experienced deep relief and this has become one of Katie’s favourite schooling experiences. Katie has volunteered and performed sports based treatments on various athletes at Comox half marathon, Cowichan women’s flag football tournament and rowing regattas. Experienced in working with
varying abilities and fitness levels. She strives to build adaptable
treatment plans with realistic home care recommendations for optimal health
and recovery. Katie is excited to apply her skills in developing the
mind-body connection as well as functional movement for all walks of life in the Ladysmith community.
