Lara Proud is a Registered Nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and the founder of Beyond The Bump Education. With personal experience as a Mom of 2 and over 12 years professional experience, Lara is passionate about making your pregnancy, birth and infant feeding journey as best as it can be. Lara specializes in complex infant feeding challenges, including tongue ties and bio-motor dysfunction—issues that many parents are told are “normal” but are often overlooked or improperly addressed. Her non-judgemental approach focuses on uncovering the root causes of feeding difficulties and providing solutions that truly support both parent and baby in their feeding goals.
In addition to lactation support, Lara offers prenatal consultations designed to help parents prepare both physically and mentally for birth. These sessions go beyond standard education, incorporating physical assessments and personalized movement plans to optimize labour, improve positioning, and increase overall comfort during delivery.
Lara is also completing her certification in myofunctional therapy. She uses a specialized approach with the pediatric population she works with to improve oral function, breathing, and muscle development in children before jaw and palate growth is finalized. While she applies myofunctional principles when working with infants, full treatment is typically recommended for children ages 3–4 and up when they can actively participate in therapy. Early intervention in childhood can help address common issues such as mouth breathing, improper tongue posture, and oral dysfunction before they lead to long-term concerns.
