Lauren is a Registered Acupuncturist with the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ACTMANS) and a graduate of the Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine diploma program at Autumn Institute of Health, where she received the _Rooted in Care_ award.
Before becoming an acupuncturist, Lauren worked as an exercise therapist, kinesiologist, high school science and physical education teacher, and community outreach worker. These experiences shape her holistic understanding of the body and inform her approach to care, integrating insights from biomedicine and East Asian medicine while honouring the interconnected nature of physical, mental, emotional, and environmental well-being.
Lauren’s approach to treatment is grounded in compassion and trauma-informed care, with the belief that everyone deserves to feel at home in their body. She often works from a somatic lens, supporting patients in arriving just as they are, and incorporates guided breathing alongside needle insertion to encourage a sense of safety and ease. In addition to acupuncture, treatments may include moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tuina, acupressure, meditation, and personalized homecare rooted in yangsheng principles.
She is committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where consent is ongoing and patients feel empowered in their care.
As a general practitioner, Lauren treats a wide range of health concerns. Her work is guided by palpation with a focus on creating a space for the body and mind to soften, settle, and return to a more calm, regulated state.
Outside of the clinic, Lauren feels most grounded in nature — often by the ocean or moving her body in fun and intuitive ways through yoga and dance. She brings a compassionate presence, along with a touch of goofiness and warmth into each treatment.
