Occupational Therapist Lori Desjardine is very passionate about her work and takes great pride in helping others regain their independence and improve their quality of life.
I strongly believe in empowering each individual client to help them achieve success. I view each client as unique with their own individual strengths and challenges, thus programs are creatively designed to maximize outcomes and client-directed goals. I strive to devise innovative solutions to clients’ needs and am constantly seeking to enhance my knowledge in all areas of rehabilitation.
I take great pride in the fact that I am able to work so closely with client’s and families at a very vulnerable stage, to help bring a quality of life and joy back into their lives. I have over fifteen years of experience as an occupational therapist and have spent much of this time in the area of neurological rehabilitation and community-based practice.
I continue to expand my knowledge and treatment techniques with my professional designation of Occupational Therapy and have expanded my knowledge to include: Micro Point Stimulation (MPS), Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP), Concussion management, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), HeartMath techniques, I am a qualified Cogmed provider, a BrainFx administrator, Certified VoxNeuro Technician as well as a Restorative Yoga teacher and Meditation Instructor.
I have always been passionate about neurological trauma, brain injury and mental health, however, my unique skill set applies well to various conditions including those living with chronic pain and disability. I believe that not only is it important to have a solid knowledge base but to be able to see people for who they are and work with them in the present moment. Health is ever-changing, and it is the connections we make and the skills that we learn along the way that help us heal.

At New Heights Phsyiotherapy, an Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of physical, cognitive, and emotional factors affecting daily function. Our experienced OTs assess mobility, strength, memory, mental health, sensory processing, and environmental accessibility to develop targeted intervention plans that enhance independence, well-being, and overall quality of life. The assessments are geared towards the identified challenge areas ie. mental health, cognition, stress management, accessibility etc...
A follow-up Occupational Therapy (OT) session is tailored to each client’s progress and goals. It may include reviewing strategies from the initial assessment, practicing specific exercises to improve mobility, mental health or cognitive function, refining daily routines, or implementing adaptive techniques for work and home life. The therapist provides hands-on guidance, monitors improvements, and adjusts the treatment plan as needed to ensure continued progress toward greater independence and well-being.
