Contemporary Acupuncture (Intramuscular Stimulation or Muscle Needling) may be used within the Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) scope of practice as part of the treatments for the relief of soft tissue pain and improvement of joint or physical dysfunction. This involves the insertion of thin, sterile, single-use needles into specific points in the body. Temporary redness, tenderness, or marking may occur with myofascial or contemporary acupuncture treatment, regardless of treatment duration.***
Myofascial release therapy involves the use of various items such silicone cups or scraping tools to apply varying levels of suction or friction throughout body. The release is from pulling skin, fascia, and muscles apart from one another to reduce scar tissue, increase circulation and induce recovery and relaxation. Temporary redness, tenderness, or marking may occur with myofascial treatment, regardless of treatment duration.***
