Mandeep holds both a Bachelor of Kinesiology and Master of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia. He grew up and still lives in South Vancouver, staying involved in his community through volunteer work with John Oliver Secondary Athletics and the Khalsa Diwan Society.
A life-long learner, Mandeep continues to take professional development courses to provide the most evidenced based treatment to his clients. He is certified to practice both IMS (Chann Gunn IMS) and acupuncture (Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute). Mandeep also incorporates the FMS (Functional Movement Screen) and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) into his assessment and treatment approach.
Mandeep has a special interest in sports injuries and the care of tactical athletes and first responders. Since beginning his physiotherapy career in 2014, he has worked with individuals ranging from weekend warriors to elite and professional athletes.
Mandeep served as the team Physiotherapist for the New Westminster Salmonbellies Senior Lacrosse Team from 2015 to 2019 and was also part of the medical team for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. These experiences helped shape his approach to performance-based rehabilitation and injury prevention.
In addition to his sports medicine background, Mandeep brings extensive experience working within a policing environment. He spent 15 years working with the Vancouver Police Department, where he gained firsthand insight into the physical and occupational demands placed on police officers and other public safety professionals.
During this time, he administered Police Officer Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) practice sessions and testing for police applicants and supported the physical qualification processes for specialized units including Emergency Response Team (ERT), Marine and Canine. His experience working inside a large multi-level organization in the area of health and wellness has given him a unique understanding of the journey first responders face—from recruitment and training to active service and retirement.
Mandeep was awarded a Vancouver Police Department Inspector’s Citation after performing life-saving CPR on a recruit during a POPAT training session.
In his down time, Mandeep enjoys all things sports related, especially complaining about his fantasy football team. He also enjoys being walked by his dog, Luna, around local trails and parks and spending time with his family.
