Marybeth comes to us with over 30 years of clinical, leadership and management experience. As an Occupational Therapist, she has spent many of her years with boots on the ground at job sites supporting return to work initiatives for those returning following a physical illness and/or mental illness. Marybeth holds both a BSc in Psychology from St. FX University as well as a BSc in Occupational Therapy from The University of Western Ontario.
Marybeth provides Workwell Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) and Matheson Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluations (CFCEs). She is highly skilled in performing physical demands analysis, home assessments, return to work assessments and planning, for both physical and psychological. Marybeth has experience evaluating occupational performance issues (OPIs) and determining if they are related to compensable injury(s). In addition, Marybeth has significant experience working with both insurers and clients. Marybeth is committed to the ongoing training of Occupational Therapists, both as a tutor at Dalhousie University and to the OT team here at PROTx.
Marybeth’s career has taken her to many, many workplaces and communities throughout Nova Scotia where the goal is to “return to life’s tasks/occupations” one of which is work. The role of an occupational therapist is crucial because the ability to engage in work, and at life's other tasks, is an indication of health and wellness. Marybeth is passionate about her work, especially working with first responders, specifically those whose life has been affected by a psychological traumatic injury.
