My name is Michelle (she/her) and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #24651). I graduated with a Masters of Counselling Psychology with Distinction from Yorkville University in August for 2024. Since then I have continued to further my education and experience, with a focus on neurodiversity, suicide crisis intervention, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
My approach to counselling first and foremost comes from Trauma-Informed Person Centred Therapy, where the client’s experience, comfort, and autonomy are prioritized above all else. I like to check in frequently with my clients and invite them to provide me with feedback to ensure they are getting the most from their counselling journey. I take an individualized and integrated approach to each client, meaning I employ various counselling theories to best fit the client’s challenges, goals, and wishes. The approaches I utilize most often include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
Prior to my counselling career, I worked and volunteered in various mental health settings, crisis intervention and crisis management, community living, the autism network, the non-profit sector, and in the public K-12 school system. I have experience working with a wide range of client populations, challenges, and goals; including with seniors, adults, youth and children, couples and families, various neurodiverse populations including ADHD and Autism, LGBTQ+ individuals, anxiety, depression, and stress management.
“A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.”
-Carl R. Rogers
I look forward to encouraging and supporting you on your journey in becoming the version of yourself you aspire to be!
