Kelsey has experience working with a variety of populations, but primarily focused on youth and adults. Kelsey has working in a residential setting with homeless youth, engaged in harm-reduction work, and has supported individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. She has worked with children and youth in a walk-in counselling setting, doing brief therapy, as well as engaging in long-term intensive therapy with young people.
Kelsey has supported individuals through various mental health struggles (such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, psychosis, and personality disorders), suicidal ideation, substance misuse, sexual abuse, and developmental trauma. She has also supported folks who have engaged in harming behaviours to understand the root cause of their actions and helping them create a plan to have healthier relationships in the future. Kelsey also has a passion for couples counseling and has been further developing her knowledge and skills in that treatment area.
Kelsey believes in a mixed-modality approach, using skills and techniques from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Narrative Therapy.
Kelsey works from a client-centered perspective. She believes in treating the whole person, and takes the mind-body connection into consideration in assessment and treatment.
If you wish to book an appointment with Kelsey, feel free to contact us. She offers 15 minutes free consultation as well.
