A Vestibular Assessment is a specialized evaluation designed to diagnose and treat balance and dizziness disorders related to the vestibular system. During the assessment, the physiotherapist takes a detailed history, examines eye movements, performs balance and gait tests, and may use positional maneuvers to provoke symptoms and identify specific vestibular conditions. This comprehensive evaluation helps the physiotherapist develop a personalized treatment plan focused on improving balance, reducing dizziness, and enhancing the client’s overall quality of life.

During a subsequent Vestibular appointment, the focus shifts to implementing and adjusting the treatment plan based on the client’s progress. The session may include performing targeted vestibular rehabilitation exercises to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and strengthen the connection between the eyes, brain, and inner ear. The therapist will monitor the client’s response to these exercises, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal recovery. Additionally, the therapist provides ongoing education and support, addressing any concerns and refining strategies to help the patient manage symptoms and safely engage in daily activities.
