**What were you doing before pursuing RMT?**
Before pursuing registered massage therapy I was a supervisor at Starbucks! I’ve been there for almost 4 years now, and have worked in the hospitality industry for around 8.
**Why do you want to be an RMT?**
The reason I want to be an RMT is because I have always gravitated towards a career that allows me to help other people. Before I settled on massage therapy, I was interested in psychology but never found anything within it that truly stood out to me. I knew I wanted to support people, but I just didn’t know in what way. I also feared taking work home with me, and knew I wanted to do something where I could have a good work-life balance. Massage therapy had been in the back of my mind and resurfaced after I remembered just how much of an impact my own RMT had on me when I was suffering from chronic headaches. Being able to help people both mentally and physically is something that I find so rewarding, and in that moment it felt like a light bulb lit up in my head. I knew that this was what I wanted to pursue!
**How do you like to spend your time outside of work/school?**
Outside of work and school I can usually be found spending quality time with my family and friends! I take great importance in having some ‘me time’ whenever I can though, so on days I need to recharge I am often playing video games such as Skyrim (my favourite), Stardew Valley, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing! I try my best to stay active, but video games have always been a huge passion of mine and something I cherish when I need a moment for myself.
**What is your favourite thing about VCMT?**
My favourite thing about VCMT has to be the supportive, positive cohort I have the pleasure of being in! From day one, we have all been there for one another. I have had the privilege of making new friends and sharing many laughs and smiles with them, and during stressful times having friends to lean on for support is something I am forever grateful for.
