AjouterHello! My name is Trish Senior; I am a Registered Psychologist working towards my PhD in School and Clinical Child Psychology. I have over a decade of experience in clinical assessments, psychoeducational assessments, and counselling. I am competent to provide a variety of assessment services with both children and adults. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle to manage mental health concerns, stress, attention challenges, and difficulties with transitions. As well, I have training and knowledge in the area of sport-related concussions. I love working with youth and young adults to help them gain tools to succeed in life. Approach to Counselling:
I take a person-centered approach to therapy to allow my clients to address their goals and concerns throughout the therapeutic process. I draw from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness strategies. Through an eclectic approach, I incorporate evidence-based approaches to meet the needs and goals of my clients. By building a strong rapport with my clients and their families, I believe in a collaborative approach to finding solutions, experiencing and processing emotions, and determining the values important to facilitate change.
Education and Credentials:
- Registered Psychologist (#7907) with the College of Alberta Psychologists
- B.A. in Psychology - Applied Emphasis with Distinction from Concordia University of Edmonton
- M.Ed. in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Alberta
- Ph.D. in School and Clinical Child Psychology currently in progress at the University of Alberta
Background/Experience:
Throughout my training and clinical experiences, I have had the opportunity to work with adults, children, and families within community and private clinics, schools, and rehabilitation hospitals.
Prior to graduate school, I worked as a psychological assistant conducting hundreds of comprehensive psychological assessments for adults suffering from a variety of injuries. In graduate school, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills while working with children, youth, and families. Through my practicums and residency at the CPA-accredited Edmonton Cross-Speciality Consortium, I have conducted psychoeducational assessments and comprehensive assessments involving attention, mental health, personality, and memory. As well, I have gained individual and group counselling experiences with children, youth, and young adults experiencing anxiety and depressive symptoms managing trauma, attention difficulties or phobias; and coping with emotions.
I specialize in research related to sport-related concussions. Alongside clinicians, I have provided assessment, management, and support to collegiate and professional athletes suffering from concussion. Having a background playing high level sport, I understand the unique factors that athletes face with injury, specifically concussion. My current research dissertation looks at the influence mental health has on a collegiate athlete’s recovery from concussion.

About Me:
I have lived in the Edmonton area for the majority of my life, and I am proud to say I love this city! I grew up playing a high level of soccer and was fortunate to travel across North America to compete nationally and internationally. As a University Varsity Athlete, I decided to pursue a career in psychology, as I was always fascinated with how powerful the mind can be and how it can impact well-being. When not with clients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children running/walking in the river valley, cross-country skiing, and exploring cafés, markets, and parks.
