Robertson Wong earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in St. Augustine, FL in 2003. Before that he earned a Bachelors in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University in 1999. His Doctorate coursework focused on orthopaedic manual therapy techniques for the spine and extremities, including the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Postgraduate training in vestibular rehabilitation followed in 2006.
Kinetacore Functional Dry Needling Level 1 certification was completed in 2014, followed by Level 2 certification in 2019. Robertson has primarily worked in private practice sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy clinics during his career. He has also worked at VGH, LGH and Richmond Hospital in various inpatient settings.
Robertson Wong’s clinical approach is based on taking a detailed history followed by a thorough assessment and diagnosis. Then he uses a combination of manual therapy, functional dry needling, therapeutic modalities, and exercises for treatment. Clients will be educated about their diagnosis and treatment plan along the way, and a home exercise program will be given if needed.
The ultimate goal is to correct the underlying problem rather than treating just the symptoms. Robertson has extensive experience with sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy. He also has experience with treating TMJ (jaw) disorders, chronic headaches, and vestibular problems.
