At your first appointment your practitioner will ask about your chief concern, symptoms, and general health, then feel your pulse, and observe your tongue. This information will be used to design a unique acupuncture treatment protocol specifically for you. You will lie on a treatment table while needles are gently inserted into defined acupuncture points, usually on the arms, legs, abdomen, back, or head. An infrared heat lamp will be applied to gently warm the treatment area while you are left to rest comfortably for 30 min.
Your practitioner will ask about the results from your last treatment and any changes. This information will be used to modify your treatment protocol as necessary. The best of both worlds, this treatment combines cupping followed by acupuncture and is especially effective for upper, mid, & low back pain. The treatment begins with moving cupping used to provide "massage cupping" over the whole back. Next the cups are left in place over areas with tight muscles & poor blood flow while an infrared heat lamp deeply penetrates through the muscle layers dramatically increasing circulation while softening tight, ischemic muscles and relieving pain. The treatment ends with a regular acupuncture treatment tailored to address your chief complaint.
