Ryan graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2001 (BSc), Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic in 2002 (RMT), and the Canadian College of Osteopathy in 2024 (DOMP). He completed his thesis titled "The effect of global osteopathic treatment on patients undergoing PTSD rehabilitation as measured by HRV" in 2024 (DScO).
Ryan has been a sessional instructor at the Sutherland-Chan massage therapy school for over three years. During this time Ryan taught neurology and MSK theory. He has also supervised general public clinic, stroke clinic, multiple sclerosis clinic, arthritis and joint pain clinic, and the gastrointestinal and gynecological post-surgical clinic onsite at Toronto General Hospital.
Ryan has been the lone RMT at Bellwood Health Services for over six years. Bellwood is a private mental health facility catering to Canadian civilians, first responders, and military personnel from coast to coast. This establishment helps individuals suffering from various types of mood, trauma, and anxiety disorders, PTSD, addictions, eating disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (in tandem with Sunnybrook Hospital).
Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his almost 25 years of practice. His philosophy of treatment reflects his two practice locations: a healthy individual is a fragile balance of good mental health and good physical health. The aim of Ryan's treatments is to harmonize and optimize these aspects of the individual so that people can live more easily in their bodies and minds.

Shockwave therapy pioneers a non-invasive approach to healing by utilizing high-energy acoustic waves. It targets conditions like tendonitis and fasciitis, stimulating natural healing responses within the body. Key features include rapid pain relief, tissue regeneration, and versatility across medical specialties. With short treatment sessions and evidence-backed efficacy, shockwave therapy promises a transformative solution for chronic pain management and tissue repair. What to Expect: During your session, you'll be comfortably seated or lying down, depending on the area being treated. Our experienced therapist will apply a specialized gel to the treatment area to enhance the effectiveness of the shockwave therapy. You'll then feel gentle pulses of acoustic waves targeting the injured tissue. While you may experience some mild discomfort during the session, many patients find the treatment quite tolerable, and any discomfort typically subsides quickly. Aftercare: After your session, you may experience some mild soreness or redness in the treated area, which is entirely normal and usually temporary. We recommend avoiding strenuous activities for the remainder of the day to allow your body to rest and recover. Hydrating well and applying ice packs as needed can also help alleviate any minor discomfort. Follow-Up: Depending on your specific condition, you may require multiple sessions to achieve the best results. Our therapist will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you during your initial consultation and provide guidance on scheduling follow-up appointments as needed.

The goal is to reduce amount restrictions in the tissue by locating the areas that create them. The tissue can become pinned down, twisted, and/or not getting proper communication which then limits the body from being at its optimal state. The real work is being done at the Myofascial level which the muscle and what wraps it all together is influenced. Great for improving posture and reducing pain.
