Ryan Walsworth, RMT
**Registered Massage Therapist | Co-owner, Tranquility Health Massage Therapy**
Choosing the right massage therapist is about more than finding someone with the right credentials—it's about finding someone who listens, understands your goals, and creates a treatment plan that's right for you.
As a Registered Massage Therapist and co-owner of Tranquility Health Massage Therapy, Ryan is committed to providing individualized, evidence-informed care in a calm, welcoming environment where every client feels comfortable, respected, and supported. He believes the best outcomes come from working collaboratively with clients, taking the time to understand their concerns, answer questions, and tailor each treatment to their unique needs and comfort level.
Ryan treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and shoulder pain, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, low back and hip pain, sports and recreational injuries, pregnancy-related discomfort, postural strain, stress-related muscle tension, and injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents (ICBC claims). Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing persistent pain, or simply looking to maintain your health and mobility, every treatment is designed with your individual goals in mind.
His treatment style blends focused therapeutic techniques with an overall sense of relaxation, allowing clients to experience effective clinical care without sacrificing comfort. Treatments may incorporate Swedish massage, myofascial techniques, joint mobilizations within RMT scope, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, TMJ treatment, movement education, and personalized home care recommendations when appropriate.
Ryan graduated from the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in 2021 and is passionate about lifelong learning. He regularly pursues continuing education to expand his clinical knowledge, including advanced training in TMJ assessment and treatment, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, fascial assessment and mobilization, breathing mechanics, pregnancy massage, hydrotherapy, cultural sensitivity, and patient-centred communication.
Above all, Ryan strives to provide an experience where clients feel heard, involved in their care, and confident in their treatment plan. Whether it's your first massage or you've been receiving treatment for years, his goal is simple: to help you move more comfortably, reduce pain, improve function, and leave each appointment feeling better than when you arrived—and looking forward to your next visit.

This session is geared towards little people. Each appointment begins with a friendly check-in to empower the child, ensure that they understand the nature of the treatment, let them know that they're in complete control throughout the treatment, gain consent for the treatment, and discuss what to do if they ever become uncomfortable during the massage. It's highly recommended that at least one caretaker be present during the first few treatments, as this can be an intimidating experience for little ones.

Lymphatic drainage massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage, is a gentle form of massage used to relieve painful swelling in your arms, legs or any area of the body caused by lymphedema. Lymphedema happens when your tissues retain fluid left behind after your cardiovascular system sends blood to your tissues and organs. The remaining fluid is called lymph. Normally, your lymphatic system collects your lymph and returns it to your heart via a network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes. When something disrupts your lymphatic system's process, lymph collects in your arms and legs, making them swell. A massage therapist uses lymphatic drainage massage techniques to move lymph from your tissues to your lymph nodes, which eases the swelling in your tissues.

Sports massage is a specialized form of massage therapy designed to address the demands placed on muscles, joints, and connective tissues through physical activity. Despite the name, you don't have to be a competitive athlete to benefit from this treatment. Sports massage can help reduce muscle tension and soreness, improve flexibility and range of motion, support recovery after exercise, manage overuse injuries, enhance circulation, prepare the body for physical activity, and reduce the risk of injury while exercising. If you enjoy staying active, sports massage can be an effective part of your overall health and recovery routine.

The TMJ treatment focuses on manual treatment of the jaw and the surrounding muscles of mastication of the face and mouth. Massage therapy can help by decreasing muscular tension within the large muscles used to chew and speak, and also help to reposition the fibrocartinalageous discs associated with clicking with in the jaw. Massage is also helpful in decreasing headaches while also improving active range of motion around the lower mandible when opening the mouth. Gentle focal techniques are used in conjunction with traditional Swedish massage and neuromuscular rehabilitation techniques to assist with identifying and correcting muscular strength imbalances and improving ease of movement throughout the affected area.
