Since 2008, Sandy has been an active sports coach and fitness leader, working with youth and adults of all ages and abilities. Her interest in the human body and passion for coaching and exercise drove her to pursue a career in Kinesiology. She attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2016 and a Master of Kinesiology in Coaching Sciences in 2019. During her studies, she worked as a student athletic trainer for UBC Men’s field hockey and rugby teams, gaining valuable experience assessing, treating and taping acute injuries. Off the field, she trained soccer, rugby, baseball and basketball athletes in the varsity gym, focusing on strength, conditioning and improving performance.
In 2019, Sandy became a Practicing Kinesiologist, registered under the British Columbia Associate of Kinesiologists (BCAK). Her areas of expertise include sport and exercise pedagogy, performance planning and injury prevention and rehabilitation. She has worked with pre-and-post surgical patients, as well as individuals with various conditions including motor vehicle, work place, athletic, and acute and/or chronic injuries.
As a Kinesiologist, Sandy believes in using evidence-based approaches to support physical fitness development and strives to empower individuals by providing them with the proper tools and knowledge to accomplish their goals. She utilizes a client-centered and collaborative approach to promote a fun and encouraging environment for all her clients. Whether it's your health, recovery, function, fitness or athletic performance, Sandy is committed to helping you thrive.
Outside of work, you can find Sandy in the gym playing basketball and volleyball, or outdoors enjoying a nature hike or bike ride.
