Sarah graduated from Dalhousie University in 2010 with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. She has had training in all areas of physiotherapy with a greater focus being in orthopaedics and Women’s Health. After graduating from Dalhousie, Sarah worked in private practice in Corner Brook for two years before opening up ActiveLife Physiotherapy and Wellness with her husband Mike in October 2012.
Sarah has post-graduate training in manual therapy, functional dry needling, movement dysfunction, myofascial techniques, acupuncture and treatment of female urinary incontinence and prolapse. Sarah's treatment includes a "hands on" approach combined with specific exercise prescription. In addition to her interest in treating orthopaedic injuries, Sarah has a passion for treating Women’s Health conditions including pre and post-partum care, exercise prescription for expecting mothers, female urinary incontinence, urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, dyspareunia (pain with intercourse) and pelvic pain syndromes.
Aside from her role as a physiotherapist, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband Mike, daughter Sophie and pup Ryder, along with her family and friends. Her interests include playing basketball, biking, hiking, skiing, cooking, gardening, reading and travelling.
Sarah is also very passionate and acts as co-chair of the Islaview Foundation, which is a foundation built out of love and in memory of her sweet, loveable daughter Isla. Together with tremendous community support, this foundation raises money for families who have children with life-threatening illnesses.
Sarah has also been heavily involved in raising money for the Ronald McDonald House NL and will continue to do so as it holds a special place in her heart. Aside from her humanity work, Sarah volunteers within her profession to promote physical activity and wellness within her community through different exercise classes and wellness events.
