Shaleen is the founding co-director of Vestibular Health. She is committed to helping patients with vestibular disorders and facial nerve palsy. Since 2010 Shaleen has worked with the multidisciplinary clinical team at the University Health Network. There she established the Hertz Vestibular Rehabilitation program offering one-on-one individualized assessments and treatments. Every week Shaleen continues to do multidisciplinary assessments in Dr. John Rutka's neurotology clinic, seeing some of the most complex dizzy patients from across the province. Shaleen is an Advanced Practice Vestibular Physiotherapist in the Enhanced Dizzy Assessment Clinic at Toronto General Hospital.
Shaleen has extensive training in vestibular rehabilitation; she has completed her vestibular certification from Emory University (Atlanta) and has advanced training from Duke University (North Carolina). She has spent a lot of time in the US being mentored by experts in the field and regularly attends conferences to keep her knowledge aligned to best practices.
Shaleen also has expertise in facial neuromuscular retraining for facial nerve palsy. She has completed advanced and practical courses in this field, and is a member of Facial Therapy Specialists International.
Shaleen has a keen interest in teaching and research. She teaches vestibular rehabilitation at the University of Toronto, and has provided educational workshops locally and internationally. Her latest research looked at the prevalence of vestibular issues in elderly patients experiencing falls. She has many publications and has presented her research at conferences all over the world.
Through her compassionate care, Shaleen will help you develop a better understanding of your vestibular condition, reduce your symptoms, improve your balance and help you achieve your goals.
