Holistic approach to massage

I have been practicing massage for 23 years working in multiple spas and on friends and family I am passionate about my work and enjoy helping people improve the way they feel. My familiarity with different disciplines has taught me to see the body holistically, not only focusing on one area. The use of these different disciplines has helped some clients live almost pain free . Working with all people from children to seniors is very rewarding .

I personally and strongly believe that massage can improve your quality of life, whether it be through relaxation or removing muscular tension in the body.

I recently decided to open my own business again, since covid .

This ambition led me to Thailand to learn Thai massage. It was a wonderful experience and taught me many new methods of accomplishing the best results. I now use it in my Massage Practice daily. It has been a great benefit to my clients and myself.

I am accepting new clients at this time

Deep tissue60 min

Deep tissue massage focuses on the deep layers of muscle tissues in an effort to release chronic patterns of tension. The massage uses many of the same strokes as classic message therapy, with the main difference lying in the fact that a deep tissue massage involves slower movements and the application of greater pressure. The therapist works on one particular part of the body at a time, applying friction across the grain of the muscles rather than with the grain . Incorporated with myofascial and trigger points and Thai stretching methods usually on localized areas

The Reflexology Association of Canada defines reflexology as: "A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body."[7] Reflexologists posit that the blockage of an energy field, invisible life force, or Qi, can prevent healing.[3] Another tenet of reflexology is the belief that practitioners can relieve stress and pain in other parts of the body through the manipulation of the feet. One claimed explanation is that the pressure received in the feet may send signals that 'balance' the nervous system or release chemicals such as endorphins that reduce stress and pain.[8] These hypotheses are rejected by the general medical community, who cite a lack of scientific evidence and the well-tested germ theory of disease.[4] Reflexology's claim to manipulate energy (Qi) has been highly controversial, as there is no scientific evidence for the existence of life energy (Qi), 'energy balance', 'crystalline structures,' or 'pathways' in the body.[9] In Trick or Treatment? Alternative Medicine on Trial, Simon Singh argues that if indeed the hands and feet "reflect" the internal organs, reflexology might be expected to explain how such "reflection" was derived from the process of Darwiniannatural selection; but Singh observes that no argument or evidence has been adduced.[10]

Swedish Massage60 min

The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. This form of massage was created at the turn of the century by Henry Peter Ling in Sweden. It involves the use of kneading, stroking, friction, tapping, and vibration and may provide relief from stiffness, numbness, pain, constipation, and other health problems. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Other possible benefits include stimulation of circulation, an increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. The usual sequence in which a swedish massage strokes are conducted are Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Vibration, Percussion, and finally passive and active movements (bending and stretching)

Thai Massage120 min

The massage practitioner leans on the recipient's body using hands and usually straight forearms locked at the elbow to apply firm rhythmic pressure. The massage generally follows designated lines (Sen) in the body. Legs and feet of the giver can be used to fixate the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fixate the body, while the feet do the massaging action. A full Thai massage session typically lasts two hours or more, and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire body; this may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking the knuckles, walking on the recipient's back, and manipulating the recipients body into many different positions. There is a standard procedure and rhythm to the massage, which the practitioner will adjust to fit each individual client. Generally speaking, practitioners of modern Thai massage operate on the hypothesis that the body is permeated with "lom", or "air", which is inhaled into the lungs and subsequently travels throughout the body along 72,000 pathways called "sen", which the therapists manipulate manually. This is the commonly accepted hypothesis, mostly likely originating in Indian Yoga, promoted by the Government and the Schools, the Sen being understood as either physical or non physical structures depending on the interpretation. Traditional regional medicine however follows a different, more comprehensive theoretical system, which involves massage as being the manipulation of the 5 body layers (Skin, Tissue, Channels, Bone, Organs) to influence the relationship of the 4 body elements (Earth, Water, Wind, Fire), within this system, the Sen are defined as tendons, ligaments, nerves and blood vessels, and the element "lom" or "wind" is understood as the property of movement. This understanding derives from Buddhist Medicine which has its roots in ancient Indian Medicine. Pressure point massage and stretching done fully clothed in flexible, loose or comfortable clothing of their choice. Great for people who feel uncomfortable disrobing.
