The human body is designed to resist an indefinite number of changes and stressors. However,
when you experience any health condition, injuries, or trauma, this becomes hard to believe.
The secret to recovery, and the role of a Physiotherapist, lies in the successful adjustment to
changing stresses on the body. As an upcoming Physiotherapist, Shirley is passionate about
helping people of all ages, from children to seniors, live a healthy lifestyle by helping her clients
realize the potential of the human body. Shirley incorporates a neuromusculoskeletal approach
to pain management and movement ailments, as she appreciates the pivotal role between the
mind-muscle-body connection. She also highly values the use of a holistic approach, looking
beyond just physical structures to find the root cause of your problem.
Shirley completed a Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. During
her study, she has had a wide variety of clinical experiences across the continuum of care,
include pre and post-operative management of orthopaedic procedures, arthritis management,
gait retraining, motor development, and return-to-work training. Shirley’s drive for self-
improvement coupled with her inquisitive nature compels her to spare no expense in learning
and integrating various techniques to better treat her patients. Currently, she is in the process of
obtaining a certificate for the McMaster Medical Contemporary Acupuncture Program and
completing AIM courses through the Orthopedic Division of Canadian Physiotherapy
Association.
