Sonya has been a physiotherapist since 1995, beginning her career in hospital-based care, where she worked extensively with acute medical, surgical, and intensive care patients. These early experiences shaped her compassionate, whole-person approach to rehabilitation. After returning to Nova Scotia in 2014, Sonya was introduced to pelvic health physiotherapy while working with Erika Burger and was inspired to pursue advanced training in this deeply impactful area of care.
Sonya has completed extensive post-graduate education in urinary incontinence, dyspareunia, pelvic organ prolapse, ano-rectal disorders, biofeedback, and pessary fitting. She has also received advanced training in treating endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain (CPPS), erectile dysfunction, and post-prostatectomy rehabilitation. Her clinical approach is grounded in pain science, corrective exercise, and trauma-informed care, with a strong commitment to inclusive, gender diverse care.
She is passionate about providing clear, evidence-based education and helping clients feel empowered and supported as they work toward their pelvic health goals. Sonya believes in meeting people where they’re at, and in creating a safe and welcoming space where healing can begin.
Outside of work, Sonya enjoys time in nature—walking in the woods, beachcombing, and tending to her garden—as well as spending time with her family and close friends.
