This is a two-part assessment. First, we will see you in clinic for a physical/biomechanical assessment. Your first shockwave physiotherapy assessment includes a thorough discussion to better understand your symptoms and identify your individual concerns and treatment goals. Depending on your therapy goals, treatment can include education, manual therapy, exercises, stretching and a discussion if shockwave therapy is right for you. At your initial appointment, a comprehensive evaluation will be done on your jaw (TMJ), neck, shoulder girdle, and thoracic spine in order to determine if one or a combination of these structures are causing your symptoms. After this, your physiotherapist will create a treatment plan based on the nature of your symptoms and your specific needs. This may consist of any combination of methods and modalities, including jaw exercises, soft tissue massage, joint mobilization or myofascial techniques. *Please note that a cancellation fee of $50 will be charged to your account should you change/cancel your appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time. Our tele-health physiotherapy assessment is done virtually (either by phone or video conference) and can be done directly through our secure Janeapp. Your physiotherapist will do an extensive interview with you regarding your signs, symptoms, and goals. If done by video, your physiotherapist will ask you to perform movements and tests to help diagnose the problem in order to come up with a treatment plan moving forward. A treatment and plan in this case may look like educating you on how to self-treat the problem using specific techniques, postures, exercises and positions. Perhaps, most importantly, the physiotherapist will be able to tell you whether they feel you need further medical investigation with your healthcare provider in person. *Please note that a cancellation fee of $50 will be charged to your account should you change/cancel your appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time. Your first vestibular physiotherapy assessment includes a thorough discussion to better understand your symptoms and identify your individual concerns and treatment goals. Depending on your therapy goals, treatment can include education, canal repositioning maneuvers and rehabilitative (habituation) exercise to name a few. Please note, you will likely feel dizzy during/after the initial assessment and this is typical and ideally does not last more than the same day. *Please note that a cancellation fee of $50 will be charged to your account should you change/cancel your appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time. Internal pelvic exams may also be used as part of your assessment and treatment plan to help treat particular conditions. If an internal pelvic exam is deemed beneficial for treatment, your therapist will discuss the purpose and procedure with you in detail and answer any questions you may have before proceeding with your consent.
