Cupping works by utilizing suction or “negative pressure” to decompress soft tissues and stretch fascia (connective tissue). This negative pressure allows the body’s blood vessels to expand and increase the flow of oxygenated blood and injury-repairing white blood cells to the treated area, thus promoting healing and reducing pain. Egyptians practiced cupping as early as 1500 B.C and the telltale circular marks left by the treatment can be seen on many professional and olympic athletes to this day! The immediate benefits of cupping therapy include muscle relaxation, decreased local pain, increased joint mobility. Long term benefits include improved blood circulation, promoting tissue repair, reducing inflammation, increasing scar tissue elasticity. What is cupping good for? Arthritis (including Rheumatoid), Musculoskeletal Pain, Chronic low back pain, Headaches and Migraines, Tendonitis, Bursitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Shin Splints
