AjouterSurb completed her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 1992 at the University of British Columbia.
Surb has a passion for neurology: stroke, brain injury and concussion management. Outside of her work here at Stasis Rehab, she also works at Surrey Memorial Hospital as the Clinical Practice Leader of Occupational Therapy and previously worked in the neurological outpatient program as a Clinical Instructor teaching Masters of OT students from across Canada. She recently received the Chris Courtney award in 2022 from UBC for excellence in teaching. Her experience in brain injury, stroke management, concussion, acute care, inpatient and outpatient neurological programs, arthritis, orthopedics, special care nursery, extended care and COPD clinic has allowed her to be an asset to our team. At Surrey Memorial, Surb was instrumental in her development of various initiatives and programs including both inpatient and outpatient neurology programs, the outpatient arthritis program, the OT role in Geriatrics, COPD and NICU. Surb received her NDT ( Neurodevelopmental treatment) certification in 2015, and has advanced certifications in both NDT and Bobath in 2023. She as advanced practice knowledge and expertise in the areas of Upper extremity therapy, cognition, perception, visual process training, neuro electrical stimulation, serial casting, high and low temperature splinting, orthotic fabrication, specialized seating and swallowing. She has taught and mentored throughout the Fraser Health Authority and is also a Clinical Instructor for the Faculty of Medicine and School of Occupational Therapy at UBC.
Outside of work, she is a busy mom with 4 kids attending university and raising the naughtiest rescue dog ( a lab) from Saskatchewan.
