During a pelvic floor physiotherapy initial assessment, our highly skilled and experienced physiotherapist will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to understand your specific concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan. The appointment typically begins with a detailed discussion of your medical history, bladder and bowel habits, sexual health, childbirth history (if applicable), and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. Your physiotherapist will then guide you through a series of external and, if appropriate and with your consent, internal physical assessments to evaluate the strength, coordination, and function of your pelvic floor muscles, as well as posture, breathing patterns, and core engagement. These assessments help identify the underlying causes of symptoms such as incontinence, pelvic pain, or prolapse. By the end of the session, you will have a clear understanding of your pelvic health, along with a tailored treatment plan designed to improve function, reduce discomfort, and enhance your quality of life.
