While attending York University and working towards her Kinesiology degree, Tanya began working as a Certified Personal Trainer. Tanya recognized that many of the clients had a variety of postural dysfunctions and overuse syndromes that needed to be overcome in order to achieve their goals. Her philosophy is to help clients reach their health and fitness needs safely while building a strong foundation.
After moving to Ottawa with her family, Tanya wanted to further her education in the treatment and assessment of soft tissue. She attended the International Academy of Massage and graduated with top honours. In addition to learning traditional Swedish Massage, which increases circulation and tissue health in a relaxing environment, she was educated in clinical assessment and advanced techniques for the treatment of soft tissue injury and dysfunction.

Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. Releasing restricted soft tissue using integrative massage techniques can help to normalize the sensory input to the nervous system (reduce noxious sensations) and thereby facilitate better movement and posture. The altered sensory input from the body results in a more balanced neuromuscular system, a feeling of lengthening and openness, increased circulation and decreased pain. Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems.
