Physiotherapy allows the opportunity to strengthen imbalances, correct postural issues, decrease chronic pain, and increase the mobility of muscles and joints. It can be the best place to prepare the body for future activity and training programs (increased strength, mobility, and stability).
This in-person appointment is a head-to-toe evaluation designed to see exactly how your brain and nervous system are performing. Being in the clinic allows our team to use hands-on testing and specialized equipment that provides a deeper level of detail than a virtual visit. Here is what you can expect during your assessment: 1. Detailed Consultation We’ll sit down to discuss the details of your injury, your current symptoms, and your medical history. This helps us understand the "why" behind what you’re experiencing and allows us to track your progress over time. 2. Physical & Neurological Exam The clinician will perform a series of physical checks to test your nerves and muscles. This includes: Reflexes & Strength: Ensuring your brain is sending clear signals to your limbs. Coordination: Tasks like the "finger-to-nose" test to see how smoothly your brain controls movement. Vitals: Checking your blood pressure and heart rate while sitting and standing to see how your nervous system regulates your circulation. 3. Eye Tracking & Inner Ear (VOMS) We perform a Vestibular-Ocular Motor Screen. Your clinician will guide your eyes through various movements to see if they track smoothly or if certain motions trigger symptoms like dizziness or headaches. This is a key step in identifying if your "internal GPS" needs recalibration. 4. Advanced Balance Testing Using specialized pressure sensors or app-based tracking, we measure your Postural Sway. We look at how much you wobble while standing in different positions (like on one foot or with eyes closed). This provides a precise "score" for your balance. 5. Mental Performance (Neurocognitive) You will complete a series of digital or paper-based tasks that measure your mental "horsepower." We look at your memory, how quickly you can process information, and your ability to switch between different tasks without getting confused.
