Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. Commonly used to treat pain, acupuncture is increasingly being used to treat a plethora of overall health and wellness conditions including chronic, systemic pathologies.
An initial acupuncture assessment is conducted during this session to allow your clinician to form a diagnosis based upon the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This assessment will include a thorough health history taking, lifestyle questions, and an examination of parts of the body that are sore. It will also include an examination of your face, tongue and various pulse points around your body.
After the assessment, your acupuncturist will propose, and with your agreement, begin a TCM/ acupuncture treatment plan that may include needles, supplement recommendations, manual therapy including cupping, guasha and other modalities.
