An Initial Assessment is for new patients, returning patients with new injuries, or patients returning after longer than 3 months. During the initial visit, the Physiotherapist will take a comprehensive history and perform a complete clinical assessment. Symptoms of dizziness can be caused by various pathologies, so special care is taken to rule out non-vestibular causes first.
The Assessment involves a series of manual and functional tests to categorize the type of dizziness you’re experiencing. This involves recorded observation of irregular eye movement — which is physiologically linked to impaired vestibular function — and a treatment plan is created based on the results of the assessment.

En quoi ça consiste
Most of this first physiotherapy visit is spent figuring out what’s driving the problem — history, movement, strength and hands-on testing — then some treatment if there’s time, and you leave with a clearer picture and a plan for what comes next.
