Refugee Physiotherapy Assessment
The Refugee IFHP (Interim Federal Health Program) provides essential health services to refugees and refugee claimants who are not yet eligible for provincial or territorial health care coverage. This includes refugees who are in need of physiotherapy services as part of their comprehensive health care. The Initial Physiotherapy Assessment under the IFHP aims to evaluate the health condition of the refugee or refugee claimant and create a personalized treatment plan to address any musculoskeletal or functional issues they may be experiencing.
This assessment serves as the starting point for the physiotherapy treatment plan, and it is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of refugees, who may have experienced trauma, displacement, or a variety of physical and emotional challenges.
As of May 1, 2026, beneficiaries of the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) are responsible for 30% of the cost of eligible supplemental health services, including physiotherapy treatments. Patients are encouraged to confirm their current coverage and any out-of-pocket costs prior to booking their appointment.
