This initial session is for your therapist to get to know you and understand your reasons for pursuing counselling. You will be asked lots of questions, but only have to answer what you feel comfortable sharing. You will also get the opportunity to ask your therapist any questions you may have.

Most of this first counselling visit is spent talking through what has been happening, how long it has been weighing on you, and what feels hardest right now — with the rest on clarifying patterns, goals, and boundaries so you leave knowing how the work together could be structured.
