The first session is a bit different because there are lots of firsts. This may be your first time in this space, with perhaps a new person, and perhaps a new modality. This is the getting to know each other session, the getting to know the space we are in, and experiencing for the first time how I work with SE. You will also have a chance and an opportunity to share the why you are here, or the what brought you here, or the how did you know to come moment that led you here. Therefore, it is not a deep dive, rather a space to orient to the new, and perhaps learn to come to presence and see what shows up for you in the space of coming to that, and setting some foundations for the next session that we will build upon. Often in these sessions, we are learning through experience how it works, and getting used to the newness of being in a session.

Most of this first counselling visit is spent talking through what has been happening, how long it has been weighing on you, and what feels hardest right now — with the rest on clarifying patterns, goals, and boundaries so you leave knowing how the work together could be structured.
