Medical Clearance: Only book this appointment when your doctor or health care provider says that massage therapy is safe for your post-partum body.
If they say massage is safe for you:
Following a vaginal delivery, you can generally receive massage as soon as you feel comfortable and would like to. Following a caesarean delivery, the standard recommendation is to wait 4-6 weeks; after which time your incision will have healed and you will feel comfortable lying face down on the treatment table. You can typically get 1 massage per month until baby is 12-months old & more frequent massages if there is heightened stress or complications of any kind.
Can I bring my baby into the treatment room with me?
Yes. Doing so means you agree to the following:
1. Schedule your treatment for a time when you think baby might be sleepy. You are welcome to bring any baby supplies you need.
2. This clinic respects breastfeeding/bottlefeeding: If you need to feed baby while you are being massaged, your RMT can treat your back, hips, legs & neck in side-lying position or your neck, shoulders, feet & lower legs in seated position.
3. If baby cries too much and you need to leave your appointment early, you will be responsible to pay for the full price of the treatment, because the hour will have been reserved exclusively for you.
