A Lip Flip is a subtle cosmetic Botox treatment designed to enhance the appearance of the upper lip without adding volume. By relaxing the muscles around the upper lip, the lip gently rolls outward, creating the appearance of a fuller, more defined lip—particularly when smiling.
A consultation and medical assessment will be completed prior to treatment. Please note that a Lip Flip is not suitable for every patient. Individual treatment recommendations are based on your facial anatomy, lip movement, aesthetic goals, medical history, medications, and provider assessment.
Treatment Information
Botox is carefully injected into specific muscles surrounding the upper lip to temporarily reduce muscle activity, allowing the upper lip to gently evert and become more visible when smiling.
Average Treatment: 4–10 units
This treatment is ideal for individuals who:
- Desire a subtle lip enhancement without dermal filler
- Feel their upper lip "disappears" when they smile
- Would like improved upper lip definition
- Have mild "gummy smile" concerns

(Final cost depends on the number of units required.)
Duration:
Results typically begin within 3–7 days, with full results visible in approximately 2 weeks. Results generally last 6–8 weeks.
Please Note:
A Lip Flip does not add volume or structure like dermal filler. If you are looking for fuller lips or greater definition at rest, lip filler may be a more appropriate treatment. Your provider will discuss the best option for your individual goals during your consultation.
Common Side Effects:
- Mild redness or swelling at the injection sites
- Bruising
- Tenderness
- Temporary tightness around the mouth
Less Common Risks:
- Temporary difficulty using a straw or drinking from cups
- Mild changes in speech or lip movement
- Temporary asymmetry
- Allergic reaction (rare)
- Infection (rare)
Contraindications:
Treatment may not be appropriate if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a neuromuscular disorder
- Have an active infection at the treatment site
- Have a known allergy to botulinum toxin or its ingredients
- Are taking medications that may interact with treatment
