The primary therapeutic approach used is acupuncture, but patients may also receive therapies such as acupressure, tui na massage, cupping, moxibustion, and lifestyle and nutritional guidance. Most of the appointment is spent mapping out what’s going on in your body and choosing points, then resting with fine needles in place for a stretch — sometimes with heat, cups or electrical stimulation — and you leave with a sense of what was treated and whether more sessions make sense.
