The first acupuncture appointment will consist of an in-depth consultation, where the history, and current state, of the condition being treatment will be discussed, as well as an overview of general health. The consult will be followed by the first treatment, which may be performed with acupressure at specific acupuncture points. Acupuncture can be performed if the patient is willing and able to receive treatment with needles. Needles are inserted, stimulated, and removed. Needles are not normally left in place for paediatric acupuncture treatments.
