Somatic counselling is based in the belief and understanding that your body is wise, intelligent, and an integral part of the healing process. Your body 'keeps the score' from what is experienced in life. This, holding, can often show up as aches, pain, anxiety, depression, anger, triggers etc. Working somatically creates an opportunity for your body to release this 'holding' while retaining lessons learnt, and the wisdom gleaned from life. Different modalities are brought into each session to support the body in letting go of pain, trauma, grief and more. Deciding to work together through somatic counselling, is no journey for the faint of heart, and, the connection, healing, building of trust/foundation, are just a few things that are possible to experience and weave into your relationship! Witnessing someone you love heal and do deep work, as well as being witnessed in that, is sacred, and tender territory, that also offers up opportunities to deepen and strengthen in companionship, relationship & love.

Most of the hour is spent talking through what’s been happening, how you’ve been reacting, and what patterns keep showing up — your counsellor asks questions, reflects things back, and helps you put words to it — so you leave with a clearer sense of what came up and what to keep noticing between sessions.
